Shit and glory

Hey, I'm Chris. I'll put pictures of random shit that makes me laugh or intrigues me. Leave me a message and such. Cool!

When I told people I was getting a Harry Potter tattoo, most of them just scoffed, but I just know that my love for art (both creating and appreciating it) would not nearly be as important to me now without the series. So this tattoo is a tribute to my very own Harry Potter effect. I use my right hand to create— my art is my mischief. Some people may not “get” the meaning or may just think I’m being trendy, but I’m okay with that. The people who do understand the significance are the ones I’d rather surround myself with.
Harry Potter has been a part of my life since I was in first grade. I was an incredibly shy, awkward little girl with very few friends mostly because I would have rather stayed inside reading and drawing than running around with the other kids. I remember picking up the first book and not being able to put it back down, instantly in love with Harry and his friends. Those books became my best friends growing up; constantly reassuring me that it was okay to be different because friendship and loyalty are the true measures of a person. My social anxieties were soothed through these books. My puppy died the day the 5th book was released and that book was the only thing that could help me escape my intense sadness and grief. All seven of the books have been so good to me, even as I grew older as my love for them grew into a love of reading, writing, and learning in general. Between midnight releases of the movies with my friends, or sitting in my room for hours re-reading the series, they’ve stuck with me and will continue to stick with me on the inside of my right wrist.
